I am happy to report that after replacing the leaky hose the furnace fired right up. Yes, still useful during the 'chilly' Texas nights in the 40-ties.

Thank you Rick for assuring me that the furnace should be working with a good battery. I already have a "Big Buddy" heater which indeed helps but it is a bit costly.

You can often get a piece of scrap plexiglass and Lowes/Hope Depot cheaply. Even if you cannot find plexiglass that is thin enough, you can shave the top and bottom edges with a knife or razor blade...

How interesting. Ants had built a nest in the propane valve and adjacent parts. Dirt jammed the fan and smoke came out when the service guy tried to light the furnace. Need to order a new fan.

Hi,

Never thought it would be that cold in Texas! The furnace on my 1993 21 ft HiLo Funlite does not ignite, it only blows cold air. I have gas at the stove and have tried the startup procedure...

Many thanks for the useful pointers! If there is indeed a separate fuse panel that is attached to the main power supply breaker panel, I should definitely locate and check that first.
