That's a pretty good guess...but I don't think...
That's a pretty good guess...but I don't think it's that spot-on.
If fluid gets around the piston, you need to have your cylinder rebuilt ASAP. There's not a good enough seal where the ram exits...

I have the same thing with my 1988...the seals...
I have the same thing with my 1988...the seals have disintegrated and the wood they are fixed to isn't even there anymore.
My plan is to lift the top and rebuild all of the woodwork and replace...
