I would sugest that you try one before going to far, if it works ok, then just delete the thread. I experimented a lot till I got something that worked.

The scanner should be able to reduce everything you scan, it is probably set to max quality. I would say scan everything to JPG and compress, it may be scanning to bitmap with no compression which...

What are you trying to upload that is that big? If it has a lot of scanned pictures, they can be reduced in MBs with out loosing to much quality. The scanner software can do that.
