Thanks for the info Bob. Looks like we are at the worst conclusion. The top is definitely warped. Done as much adjustment as I can and it will go up and down again with no loud noises or grinding....

Nothing caught between the top and bottom, but think I better take a closer look as to weather or not it is resting properly when it is down. Thanks for all the suggestions.
