Background: HiLo, a 26' 2000 model, was left up with the power button in the mode to control the raise / lowering. The trailer lowered itself slowly in about 3 days. Battery quite dead. New battery not effective at raising the unit. No sound at all. No motor engaged. Can't get to fuses because unit is down. Can't raise because pump handle on hydrolic unit is broken. Any ideas helpful. Thanks. Joe

You can use anything that will fit as a handle for the manual raising pump fitting. Have you tried plugging the trailer into shore power to recharge the battery? It must have been charged if you were able to have it up before it lowered, so it might recharge. The new battery sounds defective or, you have bad wiring. If there's no sound from the motor or solenoid when a good battery is used, the wiring is faulty.

If the top went all the way down in three days, you have a rather bad hydraulic leak and the safety bar was not engaged when the top was up. So, you may need a hydraulic rebuild, or, the manual lowering valve is not fully closed.

Can you apply jumper cables to the battery from a tow vehicle?

Looks like the hydraulic cylinder blew an internal seal. There was no leakage of fluid which confused me. Know where I can get a replacement?

If your manual lowering valve is open, or perhaps not closing fully due to dirt or other debris, the top will not stay up and will not raise. But, you will not have a leak because all the fluid goes back into the reservoir. Can you confirm that the valve is fully closed? It can be cleared of debris by activating the lift motor. It is rare that seals abruptly fail.

Do you have a fully charged battery now?

Since you can get to the pump, can you get to the motor. If you can hook a positive jumper cable from the battery to the post coming out of the motor (not the solenoid) and with a known good battery ground the case with the negative jumper cable. Just like jump starting a car but a battery and a motor. If the motor runs the top should lift if it doesn't you either have a bad pump or blown seals since you say you're not leaking fluid.
