Lift problem

I have owned my 21' Funlite for about 6 years--no problems raising or lowering until this week--will only raise up 1/4 of the way now and stops--fluid and battery are fine almost like something is stuck and won't allow it to raise any further--any ideas ?

Glad you've joined us on the forum, Smint!

Maybe, something IS stuck. It's possible something has slipped down between the top and bottom halves, probably when the top was down or nearly down, since that's when there's a large gap there. You can crawl in to the trailer with a flashlight and check everywhere to see if you can find an obstruction in that area.

Other than that, you seem to have covered all the bases. Good luck!

Please keep us up dated. I have owned my unit for less than 6 weeks so I am no expert. My top also wouldn't work. in my case the PO said the battery was replaced last year upon getting it home and checking it out it was 6 years old! My top went up about 6" and died. The solenoid would not even click. The Mini Monitor panel indicated a full charge but the panel took some heat at one time as it was badly melted. It also showed the black tank had two lights when empty and the grey three. The panel was giving me false info. When I replaced the panel with a new one and got a new battery my problem was solved.

Long story short, try jumping your battery just to confirm it is not the battery.

Hi Smint; First is the pump still running when the top stops raising? Besides something being stuck between the top and bottom check the guide tracks on the outside for a broken guide block. Check the cable pulleys for a broken pulley that may allow for a cable to become jammed. Also get under the RV and check for a bent safety bar or any other problem with the lifting system. Let us know what you find.

Not an easy job, but the guide rod and cables need to be dropped. Then the lift cylinder, the safety bar will just drop down, carefull of your head when it does drop, ask me how I found out.
In the "search" heading, look for "How to remove and replace hydraulic lift cylinder".
