Default need to fit in garage a little over 19ft.

Hello,
I am interested in the Hi-Lo camper, and I am enjoying reading your forum posts. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. We need to be able to put the trailer in the garage, which is a little over 19ft. long. In looking at the factory site, that appears to give us the option of a 15 or 17. Do you know if the trailer length includes the tow bar extension?
Thank you again, Gina

The 17' trailers are 17'-9" from hitch to rear bumper plus the spare tire, which is less than one foot, making a total length of about 18'-9". The 1810H is the same length as the older 17' models, they just had to come up with new model numbers. You can get the optional removable hitch that takes about 2' off the length.

I edited the last message to make the overall length of the 17' w/spare about 18'-9". You also have to take the height into account. According to the 2010 specs the 1810H is 83" high, that can be a little tight for getting through a garage door. That height includes the A/C. Without A/C, vent covers, TV antenna the height is about 71" excluding any projections, according to Hi-Lo specs for a 1709T.

You could always do what my friends dad did back in the 70's....cut a square hole in your garage door just big enough to get the hitch through.

I think my friend still has trauma from helping his dad guide the thing to fit in the hole, because he won't go anywhere near my Hi-Lo now.
