Default Hitch-ball size?

Hi,

I have an 87 fun-lite 17 ft. long. I don't know what size ball to use for towing it? I never towed it yet. When I bought it, it was brought to the camp by another truck.
My campground was sold so I have to move it soon or sell it?

It should be stamped on the coupler as to what size it is but most likely it's a 2 inch

thankyou very much for the information.

While I'm at it I have a 91 f-150 pu. in great shape I guess I should be able to tow it 20 miles with that? Any feed-back on that?

thx. marty.

My 17-ft trailer has a 2 5/16 inch hitch, but it's a 2007 model. They may have increased the size.

I'd think you could tow almost anything for 20 miles, just keep the speed low if you don't have the right towing equipment (electric brakes, WD hitch, etc.).

The older trailers were 2 inch at least my 95 was and I looked at a couple other older ones in camp grounds and they were 2" also. My 2209 is 2 5/16.

Your truck will tow it no problem.

Better check for whats stamped on the hitch, just goes to show that all things were not consistent.

HI - I am looking at a 17 foot towlite trailer.
Can you tell me about yours?
this one is 1994 - and they are asking $7500. It is in good shape. Do you think that is a reasonable amount or is that too expensive.

thanks
and any other specs you have would be great - i.e. how heavy is yours please?

My '86 manual states that 23' and shorter use a 2" ball and longer trailers use a 2 5/16".

That rule doesn't apply anymore. In later model years they upped the size to 2 5/16". Our 1705T had that size.

The OP stated they had an '87. Back when, you know, the rule applied.
