Default Injuries while working as a Nurse.

We used heat lamps to treat skin ulcers. Tried two that didn't work. Decided to try another one out in the utility room. Got an electric shock that blew the light bulb out and put me on the floor.Another Nurse came running to see what the explosion sound was. It put my heart in a fast pattern for a while. Thankful this didn't happen to a patient as I could have been fired for something that wasn't my fault. Another time I backed up into a wooden closet in a pt. room. Got a sliver in my butt that festered up. My mom removed it for me. You always need your MoM!! Another time I was bringing a PT. back from the bathroom and he tripped and we both ended up on the floor. Later that night I had back spasms. Pretty good. Only 3incidents in 17yrs. of Nursing.

Wow! You need "Hazardous Duty Pay", like I got when I was flying for the Air Force.

Seriously though, I have nothing but profound respect for members of the nursing profession. They work very difficult/demanding hours and are hardly ever thanked for their efforts.

My daughter has been an intensive care nurse since 2010. While in nursing school she worked at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado so she understands what happens to patients following their release from the hospital. Very few doctors understand this. I cannot understand how she gets through each day, particularly when patients die.

OK, I got off track but following my week at NRVTA in Athens, Texas I will check everything on my camper trailer more often.
